What Does Fully Managed Meen?

Fully Managed WordPress takes the techy part out of having a website. We manage updating WordPress, plugins, and themes. We manage backups, security, and performance optimization.

We do not manage your content or design. Organizations hosting with us receive a 50% off discount for WordPress services including content entry and customizing themes.

Note that plugins and themes are vetted and can only be installed by our team. This is to assure performance and security.

What is The WordPress Check-In

Once a year, one of our WordPress expert volunteers will review your site for improvement opportunities. This might be content display, SEO, or user experience. Once their recommendations are compiled, the expert will meet with your organization to go over what they found and to answer any questions you might have about WordPress. These calls typically are scheduled for 1 hour.

Alternative: Wix

Wix offers a free tier that is easy to learn and fully managed but has very few features, no custom domain name, and limited bandwidth. This might be good option for very small organizations.

Wix is partnered with TechSoup to offer a 70% discount for a 2-Year Subscription to Core which works out to about $105/year*

Wix Core comes with powerful ecommerce features and form builder included. Depending on your needs, these features may require a premium plugin on WordPress.

That makes Wix a great value proposition for the majority of charities. The primary drawback of Wix is that their features, while robust, are limited. By using free and paid plugins, the WordPress platform can support just about any website feature you’ve ever seen.

Alternative: Squarespace

Squarespace has similar pros and cons to Wix except there is no discount for nonprofits.

Alternative: Shopify

Shopify is a powerful platform for an organization that needs a ecommerce website. According to their blog, they do offer discounts for nonprofits but the details are unclear. Explore Shopify if your organization needs more than basic ecommerce features. Remember, Wix and Squarespace both offer ecommerce features too. We recommend comparing Shopify to WooCommerce WordPress premium features, Wix, and Squarespace when deciding on which platform to use.
